The east of the country is veiled with rolling hills spread over the lush and stunning forests that cover slopes of dormant volcanoes where the renowned Silverback Gorillas of Rwanda reside to the savannah plains in the heart of the country where the great mammals of Africa are found and ending with the western part of the country where magnificent mountains meet the deep emerald green waters of Lake Kivu.

Rwanda is located in eastern Africa’s Great Lakes region, bordered by Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Uganda. The country is beautiful, the east of the country is covered with rolling hills spread over the lush and stunning forests that cover slopes of dormant volcanoes where the famous Silverback Gorillas of Rwanda reside to the savannah plains in the west where Akagera National Park is found.
Volcanoes National Park is home to the estimated 400 mountain gorillas and covers five of the eight volcanoes that make the Virunga Mountains. Gorilla Trekking up one of Africa’s last rainforests is a truly unforgettable experience. As you climb the steep, lush slopes you begin to ascend into a different time, the peaceful serenity found in the mountains will leave lasting memories. Once you reach the Gorillas, who spend most of their time eating and grooming each other in small family groups you will have experienced one of the most exhilarating experiences in the world.
Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s less famous beauty, once ravaged by poaching during the civil war, the Government of Rwanda and Africa Parks have partnered to restock the park and make it an ideal destination for a classic African game drive. Animals that can be seen at the park include, A family of lions, Eastern Black Rhino, Buffalo, Elephant, Zebra, Antelope and a vast array of bird life and other small mammals.
